Early Bird

Product branding & advertising campaign

The Challenge:
Create a logo, brand persona, and advertising campaign for the product idea "Early bird app". This is an app that rewards users for waking up on time every morning by providing them with incentives like shopping discounts or free coffees.


The Solution:
Alongside a team of 3 other classmates, I created a promotional video and pop-up advertising event to create buzz around our new app. The potential advertising campaign for Early Bird included an alternative advertising strategy where Early Bird would develop a fleet of pop-up coffee trucks to be placed in heavily trafficked business centers and college campuses in the early mornings. These trucks would hand out free cups of coffee with the Early Bird app logo and the phrase "Wake up and Grind" on them to all passers-by in order to create more buzz around the app and directly target our audience of early risers.


Insights:
The target audience for the Early Bird app is young professionals and college students looking for a smart solution that is relevant to them in order to solve a common problem: not being able to wake up on time in the morning.
To symbolize this, I used the bright yellow and blue hues seen in all branding and the Early Bird logo to remind consumers of the morning and energy. The promotional video uses these branded colors, along with short clips of young professionals beginning their days to show all of the benefits that come with waking up early, including the incentives Early Bird offers to app users.
Young professionals and college students are looking for ways to make their lives easier. Not only should this be showcased in our app, but also mirrored in our advertising campaign as a whole. By deciding to create pop-up coffee trucks on regular work routes, we are making the lives of sleepy customers easier and reminding them that our app can do that, too.


Big Idea:
Create and promote the new Early Bird app to young professionals and college students so that they see it as the ultimate life-hack app and solution to the overused "Snooze" button.
